Well hello there… pour yourself three fingers of the good stuff and sit on down. First things first, we are on three peat watch as Taylor Gooch is LIV golf’s first repeat winner and now going after three.
Goodness, watching DJ and Sergio tee off…the crowds seem massive for a Friday at a supposedly inferior event, inferior my ass. People like this and I can see why…
Remember that I am a Majestik G Spot this year. We are in last so no place to go but up! We wish Sam canfield a speedy recovery from hip surgery and Laurie Canter will be a permanent Majestik for the foreseeable future. Laurie has been filling in for a few events now as Sam’s hip hasn’t improved. Speedy recovery Sam.
Lee Westwood with a big bender. His long putt found the bottom for birdie. The Majestiks are tied for the lead early with Ripper GC! Here we go!!
The commentator mentioned that there was some winter kill across the golf course. I would say so. I’m sorry, but this should have been remedied. There are almost bare patches. This is unacceptable Tulsa or LIV.
The Majestiks are the first team to 5 under. Go you pasty white boys go. Henrik Stenson with a birdie from a bunker. He is wearing his glasses backward on his hat. Yep, these are my lads.
Ian Poulter, of the Majestiks is your leader with 42 holes to play in LIV Tulsa! I know, I know, I should settle down, but damn this is fun so let me enjoy the moment.
Cameron Smith is a wonderful bunker player, but from my observations it is because he is always in them. Try hitting your irons better Cam and stop showing off on the beach.
Oklahoma State’s mascot is the Cowboys. Taylor Gooch among others played at Oklahoma State and I overhead, come on cowboy on the broadcast. Seeing guys wearing shorts, pink hats, and playing golf only reinforces my belief that they don’t make cowboys like they used to.
Pat Perez and Cam Smith still need haircuts. Don’t get me started on Scott Vincent, he needs sheared.
Brandan and Brenden are leading at 6 under with 4 to go. Grace and Steele that is. Old man Bland is only one shot off the lead, but the pack is at 4 under including Martin Kaymer the captain of the Cleeks who is recovering from wrist surgery and playing his way into form. Good to see him healthy and back on the pylon.
Oh, look at this old fart. The line from Feherty on Richard Bland almost holing out from the fairway.
Sergio is wearing undershirt with long white sleeves with a yellow shirt on top. Very obvious that he isn’t from Oklahoma.
Dom Boulet should be known as Crème from now on.
Branden Grace shoots 61, 9 under today. Wow, what a putting exhibition.
Day two and Super Saturday and sunshine. It looks nice out there.
I have never heard of Braum’s burger and ice cream joint, but it looks delicious. Oklahoma heart of the country good stuff.
Chase Koepka is making a run up the pylon in a tie for 6th. He hit the hole in one in Adelaide and was shown throwing out the first pitch at a baseball game. He bounced it and looked so miserably athletic in the process. This comes after we pointed out that his great Uncle Dick Groat passed during the Singapore event who happened to be an NL MVP in baseball. The family shame must not be forgotten Brooks.
Dj is now in the lead with 8 to play. He makes golf look ridiculously easy to play. Bryson DeChambeau is also making a charge up into 3rd.
Bubba Watson has come to late and is climbing the individual pylon and helping to carry the Range Goats into second on the team competition. Stingers continue to lead the team competition with Brandon Grace setting the pace at -11 one shot behind DJ.
Brenden Steele looks like the small town country club pro who shows up for a lesson and sees that the guest brought a tennis racket and says let me change shoes because he is a pro at both sports.
Bubba Watson makes two birdies in a row and grabs the walking commentator Troy Mullens’ microphone and brags himself making everyone laugh.
The 4 Aces behind DJ are now tied with the Stingers in first in the team competition at -24. They never go away unlike the Majestiks, who are now in 10th.
DJ who actually shanked a short iron yesterday before recovering to shoot a back nine 29, just eviscerated the field today to get to -15, good enough for a 3 shot lead with 1 to go. Branden Grace is 3 back and then Bubba is in third at -9. Sunday Funday might be a DJ coronation as a bad motherfucker. He did bogey his last hole to finish at minus 14 so back to the pack a little. Aces lead Stingers by 1 as we go into Sunday.
People that make comments to golfers or try and make it on TV are super annoying. They are the kissing cousins of the Baba Booey character that would yell that when someone would tee off. These old school Howard Stern fans have been sleeping with their cousins and created a new hybrid of horse’s ass.
Sunday Funday and we are off. My Majesticks are in dead last and ready to pounce.
Brooks gave all the LIV golf staff moms flowers for Mother’s day and said how much he appreciated them working on a day like today and being apart from their families. Pure class.
Greens are deceptive today. Bubba just missed a putt way wide, and Dean Burmester also just misread one badly. The putts break quite a bit so speed is essential. It will be interesting and might mean that leaders might not be able to go too low today.
Z. Dou is leading the PGA event today and I pity the people watching that and all the commercials versus watching on the LIV Golf App like me today. Always always always remember your customers and outside of the Masters, it is seldom done in golf broadcasts today. Let’s play through was a disaster let’s just call it what it was. Luckily, people decided to give people a better option and here we are. WE are lucky for LIV Golf.
DJ is running away with this a bit. He is at -17 and has a 3 shot lead over Brandon Grace and 5 over Cam Smith. 4 Aces are 3 up on the Stingers for the team title and 4 more shots over the Range Goats. 12 holes left so let’s see if this tightens up a bit.
Dean Bermester must have figured something out, putt from farther away. He made a bomb and the Stingers are within 2 of the 4 Aces.
David Feherty’s jacket looks like he should be performing at the casino bar with his wife who shows a little too much old lady cleavage.
Charl Schwartzel just made two bombs to get Stingers within two of the 4 Aces. I feel like I’ve said this before. The 4 Aces aren’t making bombs they are just playing fantastic golf. However, DJ skidded a chip by and has a lengthy par putt on 9 coming back. Branden Grace makes a birdie and DJ makes the comebackers so the lead is two in the individual and 1 in the team with 9 to play.
Harold Varner III has it going today as he is 8 under par. He just lipped out a chip that would have gotten him to 9 as well.
Well, as always I spoke too soon again. DJ isn’t running away with this after all. He drove it left in the trees on 10, he then over-hooked his next shot into the water past the hole and Branden Grace hits its close for birdie. Water is also on the other side from where he is chipping from. What a tough spot to recover from. He then got vertical really quick with it and chunked it. It is still in the rough. The announcers were speechless almost. Wow! DJ’s next shot is in close so double bogey if he makes it, Grace has a short birdie putt so a possible 3 shot swing in both individual and team races. Drama! Grace lips out the putt and DJ runs his by on the right side. Triple for DJ and we have a new leader Branden Grace. Cam Smith, HV3 and Bubba are now only 3 back. This has just gotten to be an interesting back 9.
HV3 is now 9 under through 12 holes and 2 back of Grace.
DJ with a bounce back birdie. Boss birdie there.
Pat Reed backed off because a baby is crying. I hope that is one of the player’s wives baby and not some fan that brought a baby to a golf event. That would be as bad as an airplane. When they are 5 and can shut up then bring them out of their rooms. Kids should be seen and not heard. This used to be common knowledge but we have lost our way America.
Cam Smith makes a birdie and is now one back of the leaders.
Drones are the worst. I don’t know why they have the buzzy little bastards around while play is going on. If you want to show the course before hand then fine. But while play is going on? Get them out of here. I could here it while watching the players hit. Bubba was distracted possibly on the 12th by this little alf drone. Annoying little fellow. Get it out of here, people are playing golf.
HV3 is 10 under on a par 70 course and 1 back. No-hitter watch. Shhhh….
LIV Golf doesn’t really have people finish in the clubhouse although the leaders do tee off a few minutes behind everyone else, which means that the finishes are crazy because everyone is making birdies and putts everywhere for both the team and the individual competitions. Its like the witching hour on the NFL Red Zone channel.
Cam Smith with a birdie putt to tie for the lead at -15.
Cam is now in the lead after rolling in a ridiculous long breaking putt. He is now officially in the Jordan Spieth 2015-6 territory for making long putts on demand that he has no business making. Magic hands.
Dom Boulet just said it is not possible to bend it around the corner on 14 from where Bubba was, Bubba did but still just came up short from 282. Bubba can bend it with the best of them.
DJ and Grace both get out of the bunker on the par 5 and make birdie so we have a 3 way tie at the top.
HV3 hits the railroad tie and bounces into the bunker saving his round that could be historically good.
Pat Perez holes out from the fairway and then his caddie hands him his putter. Considering how Pat reacted in Australia making a birdie putt, I don’t think he knows he made it. The 4 Aces now leapfrog the Stingers and take a lead of 1 shot at -38. He wasn’t counting and now he is.
HV3 misses a short par putt and drops a shot. Drama everywhere.
3 leaders by 3, DJ, Cam, Brandan. 4 Aces lead by 1 with 3 to go.
Cam Smith has a putt of 20 feet, I just assume it is a gimmee at this point. He left it half a roll short, what?! Human…maybe…
Charl Schwartzel makes a nervy little 6-8 footer for par to keep the Stingers tied for the team lead.
Cam just hit a chip with a good lie up into the bunker. Wow, that is straight up pressure. Unbelievable that he just did that. Bryson just followed up with the same shot and hit it to 5 feet so not that difficult.
Patrick Reed with a birdie and the 4 Aces take the team lead with 2 to go, but Pat Reed has a par putt that isn’t a gimmee coming up on the par 5.
Cam chips into the bunker and then doesn’t hit a great bunker shot and then makes a good putt to salvage par.
Pat Perez misses the par putt and unleashes a nice string of F-bombs so the camera quickly went off him and they tried to talk over him haha!
Ian Poulter of the Majesticks just made a quick appearance on the tv leaderboard at -9. He must be having a nice day bringing up the rear or as I call it, the Kardashian.
1 hole to play- 3 tied for the individual lead and two teams tied for the team lead. Playoff?
This is a crazy LIV wrinkle- IF DJ is in a playoff for the individual he couldn’t pick himself for the team playoff. Louis Ousthuizen wouldn’t be able to pick Brandan Grace if he was in the playoff assuming that there are two playoffs, which has never happened yet.
Ok, enough with Mother’s day with 1 hole to play with the Mother’s Day stuff. You have had all day to putt that content out. There is a golf tournament going on and millions on the line.
Patrick Reed for birdie on his last hole and it comes up short “Nice putt, you fucking coward” is what he says to himself, cracking up the guys in the booth.
HV3 with a birdie try on 13, his last hole of the day and it just misses, and he shoots a great 61.
Pat Perez makes birdie on his last hole and the 4 Aces get the lead again by one. Dean Burmester will have a chance for birdie on his last hole.
More mother’s day interlude. Stop. Now. Do this on the front nine all you want, but knock it off. Now we are doing a social media update on Twitter. Please show the sport. Stop being NBC.
Cam Smith with a birdie putt on 18 and it goes down of course. Leader by 1 and shoots 61. Unreal.
Burmester with a huge fist pump as he ties up the team event with his final shot of the day, a birdie! Team action and he knew it.
Branden Grace makes a birdie to tie the lead with 1 hole to play and Stingers go on top by 1. DJ is also in close with a birdie putt opportunity on 17. DJ misses left and doesn’t even touch the cup. So we go to 18 with Stingers up 1 and Grace and Cam tied for the lead with DJ a shot back.
So DJ’s score will not count for the 4 Aces unless he holes it from the fairway which means the 4 Aces are likely not going to get better than 39 under, which means that a par by Grace and Burmester’s putt would be the difference and Stingers win by one in the team competition.
DJ from out of the cabbage hits it close and has a chance to get to 17 under. Brandan Grace is in the fairway on 18 and a good shot here has implications for team and self. Grace hits a poor shot but safely on the green but well away from the hole. A two putt for the team title and a playoff in the individual. That’s most likely right now.
Pretty good galleries considering there was a lengthy rain delay. Hearty salt of the earth flyover fans. Good on ya. Grace is lining up the putt from all angles, remember he came from behind in Portland to win and he is giving himself another chance today. He is away and first to play. No music for this putt. Dramatic. He cozies it down to about 2-2 and a half feet. Louis is positive that he is gonna make it and calling his teammates shot for the team title.
MEANWHILE- DJ has a putt to get into a playoff … he pours it into the middle with authority!! Just spectacular stuff. He hit it right down the LIV line the whole time.
IF- Brandon Grace misses it, there are two playoffs or he is in a playoff and Stingers win. He makes it and we play more golf. Stingers win and Louis calls his shot.
The Stingers were wearing blue ribbons on their hats to remember John Bland, who passed away this week and was an icon in South African golf.
My Majesticks finished strong in 9th place.
3 way playoff- Grace, DJ, and Cam and someone is about to join Brooks Koepka and Talor Gooch as two time LIV golf winners.
Playoff Golf begins now- Cam- fairway, Brandan-fairway, DJ-fairway. Grace goes first from 144 he hits to very close to where DJ made his putt 15 minutes ago. DJ- hits it to the same spot- about 2 feet from Grace’s ball. Cam- Cam hits it about two feet closer than the other two. They are all in good shape, but Cam is a couple feet closer and not on the fringe. DJ and Brandan are less than a foot on the fringe. It’s a putting contest and I would think advantage Cam. The graphics package had Branden winning in London, but that was Charl, his teammate. Branden won in Portland. Ooops. Brandan goes first… he misses left, the putt turned left right at the end. It looked good all the way. DJ- makes it! No doubt about it. Grace is out. Cam- and he misses it right. DJ wins!
Major week incoming with the PGA next week in Rochester. See you there.
Insightfully Yours,
G Spot Johnson
